Shari Arison founded The Ted Arison Family Foundation in Israel, out of her belief that it is the duty of each and every one to make a change, within ourselves and in our surroundings. The foundation's social investments express the Arison family's long tradition of sharing, supporting, and adding value to society, through philanthropic endeavors based on business-world principles.
Since it launched its operations in Israel in 1993, the foundation has invested more than US$300 million in social causes and some 1,400 organizations.
The foundation, an exclusively self-sponsored charitable organization, is both responsive and proactive in offering strategic philanthropic solutions through milestone contributions in key projects, vision ventures, and annual grants for community development:
- In its milestone contributions made in the area of infrastructure development, the foundation offers contributions of $1,000,000 and up. In the areas of improvement grants and legacy grants, the foundation's contributions reach $100,000 - $1,000,000.
- For vision ventures and global Jewish partnerships, the decision making process is made by the foundations' Family Board, chaired by Jason Arison.
- In the area of community development, offering grants of up to $100,000, The Ted Arison Family Foundation has set up a unique apparatus called the Donations Committee, comprising all the foundation employees who convene to select projects in which it will invest.
