NASDAQ hosted Shari Arison for the trading day closing bell ceremony, in a grand kickoff event honoring International Good Deeds Day.
“This is an amazing opportunity to send out a call to action to the economic community, to companies, employees and their families, and to people worldwide – we invite you all to join us in doing good, making our world a better place,” said Arison in her speech. “On Good Deeds Day, hundreds of thousands across the globe join together and give of themselves according to their own time and skill. People, organizations, communities, and businesses worldwide take part and make a difference.”
This year, on Good Deeds Day held March 11 in Israel, more than half a million Israelis (550,000) will step out to do a good deed in 8,000 projects across Israel. Tens of thousands will join International Good Deeds Day in 50 countries worldwide, and together some two million hours of volunteering will be extended on Good Deeds Day 2014.
To support this global initiative that touches the lives of millions across the world, Shari Arison was welcomed at the crossroads of the world, at NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square New York. "I believe it's an inspiring testament to the strong component of NASDAQ and its listed companies," said NASDAQ OMX Vice President Karin McKinnell.
