Huffington Post showcases Shari Arison's blog about Good Deeds Day 2015, the annual global tradition that drew more than 930,000 people worldwide, across nations and religions, to give of themselves and create a better world for us all. More than 3 million hours of volunteering was given on this day in 2015. What an impact! In this blog post she says: "...people from all walks of life unite around the simple idea that we each can give of our time and skill to bring about positive change in the world."
I believe in putting the focus on positive solutions. Today, my leadership is based on my motto Think Good, Speak Good, and Do Good, which stems from my vision of Doing Good. My ongoing challenge is to bridge the gap between what I envision and its understanding and practical implementation. As I see it, every person can be a leader, and, for me, the people who choose to make a difference in the world are leaders to be admired.
In the work that I do around the world, I have seen how connecting to goodness changes lives. The Arison Doing Good Model is a hands-on tool for people, organizations and businesses who want to adhere to a values-driven agenda, ensuring any action or decision stems from a conscious positive prism of values. It brings elevated values into our down-to-earth day-to-day lives.
Everyone, from any background and all ages, can take active part in moving the tipping point to a world that is full of goodness. By passionately embracing and actively engaging in doing good deeds for the benefit of others, our collective acts of kindness create a critical mass of goodness in the world, affecting people, society and the planet.
Activating one’s goodness from within, resonates to the world at large. Think Good, Speak Good, Do Good is a motto, to which people from all walks of life, age, or culture can easily connect and make a difference. In all we do, values should serve as a compass, because it is only through this prism that goodness can grow.
We all have a part to play in our collective future. Good starts with each one of us as an individual choosing to think good, speak good and do good. Whatever is closest to your heart, find the activity that best suits you, and connect to that positive energy from within, which inspires, empowers and enriches lives.
If we choose to concentrate on good thoughts, communicate positively with others and act out our goodness by doing good deeds for the benefit of others, each one of us will be transformed from the inside. Driven by the power of goodness, we can make extraordinary things happen. Think good, speak good, and do good, is a life changing motto.
Good Deeds Day is embraced by so many worldwide, because it is based on such as simple idea to which everyone can connect and choose to take part. By actively focusing on good, each individual can take part in creating positive change, on a personal level for themselves, for their community, society at large, and the planet. Our collective wish for a harmonious world begins and ends with doing good.
Our wish for a harmonious world begins and ends with doing good. Doing good holds the power to transform us from the inside and then ripple out in ever-expanding circles that positively impact the world at large.
As our world encounters major shifts, we now face challenges that require values-based solutions. Shari Arison believes that collaborations between the public and private sectors can ensure linkage between global shifts and values.
